Year of the Horse

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the most important celebrationin the Chinese Calendar. The year of horse symbolises immediate success….We’rehoping this means our 2 fashion shows will go well…The festival lasts for 15 days and ends today known as the Lantern Festival. Local’s fromall over Beijing to Seoul to Singapore visit temples and light incense to mark the first day of the New Year. This is particularly interesting for Innu London as the temples and natural beauty of South East Asia is where the main inspiration behind the designs and essence of the brand came from.
An image that inspired Innu London.

The Wooden Horse and Fire as they bring in the Chinese New Year.

For you readers in Australia it is now summer and the Chinese New Year Festival has been going on since the 26th January. We are saying goodbye to the year of the snake and hello to the year of the horse which is recognised to be the Chinese people’s ethos: making unremitting efforts to improve themselves...We are most definitely taking this ethos on board this year! The beautiful harbour city launched the festival on 26th January at Belmore Park where you would of seen fantastic shows, fireworks and magnificent and colourful costumes, perfect environment for wearing one of our colourful clutch bags. The beauty and excitement continues on in the Chinese Markets, outdoor film screenings and even a unique Breaking-Dancing show called Compartmentalised. Next year we are definitely considering this an option. Maybe you can even treat yourselves and stay in the Four Season's which is very close by...!

A colourful selection of our Iluh clutch bag range.

Finally, today is the FINAL day to use our "JANBLUES" on our Etsy shop and our "BACANAL" code on our website. So please have a look as you are getting a very good deal. But also keep checking our social media pages for updates and exciting information on the run up to our fashion shows during London Fashion Week.

Grammy's 2014

Last night was the annual Grammy Award Ceremony. “Get Lucky” unsurprisingly won Record of the Year as did newcomer Lorde and her amazing hit “Royals”. You will be able to listen to both of these and more on our new Spotify playlist available on our website in a matter of weeks.

But now for the important stuff… WHO WORE WHAT!

Taylor Swift looked beautiful and angelic in this gorgeous gown by Gucci Premier.

Model, Christine Teigan blew us away in this stunning gold gown. The Innu London team are fond of a train…

Colbie Caillat wore a bold red number…again we love the train, but also the floral detailing on the chest and neckline. It screams elegance.
Rihanna does it again wearing a bright yellow shirt dress-like gown with her stunning jewellery chest piece. It cannot be faulted.

Finally, Beyonce is looking incredible in her skimpy outfit as she performed with husband and hip hop artist, Jay-Z (please give us your secret). But she also looked beautiful on the red carpet in her white floral gown.

We we love to know which outfit is your favourite so tweet us your answer @innulondon.
In other news it is 3 weeks till fashion week in which we are doing 2 fashion shows with Fashion TV and Bloggers Love and are hoping to have our new website up and running….best get to work.

Couture Fashion Week

Couture fashion week has had the Innu London team close to tears! The elegance and beauty portrayed in the pieces we’ve seen so far is truly stunning.

Chanel knocked it out the park yet again with an interesting yet jaw-dropping show of trainers and sportswear. Karl Largerfeld suprised the fashion world with unique take on couture. The light hues, cropped jumpers and hour glass shapes were certainly pulled off...and not to mention that adorable little boy walking hand in hand with Miss Delevigne. So cute!

Maybe one of our Rose Pink Clutch bags could match this pastel theme...
(Don't forget our "BACANAL" discount code for 40% off)

Versace opened up the show in Paris with a showstopping collection. The ‘Arabian Nights’ hoods, fur, pastels and brights that were presented throughout in stunning dresses and jumpsuits had us blown away. WE WANT IT ALL!

As I’m sure you’re already aware, Innu London is participating in London Fashion Week courtesy of Fashion TV... (eeekkkkkk). We are unbelievably excited, and admittedly a little scared. Our debut expects to show you gowns, dresses, jumpsuits and our brand new bag collection which will be available to buy after the show. Couture Fashion Week has been an incredible inspiration for us and we hope to one day be showing our designs on that catwalk.

Sundance Film Festival 2014

The Sundance festival continues on this week and if you thought it was cold here in London, I think Utah maybe a wee bit colder from looking at some of the celeb outfits. They seem to have adopted a warm, casual look...so here are a few of our faves as usual:

Zoe Salander looks very chic and Chanel in her black and white, layered number.

Kate Hudosn rocks her fur hat (unsurprisingly in the cold) with ripped jeans and a jumper and shirt combo.

Chloe Moretz keeps it simple in her tee, jeans and heels combo...Very Innu London Chloe.

Krysten Ritter appears a little more dressy than the others but no doubt still looks the part. With her geo print cape caught our eye, especially as we are introducing them into our fashion shows next month.

Finally, the team at Innu London have noticed a common trend around festival...The one and only beanie hat.

The fashion world are slowly but surely bringing out their spring summer collections but do not worry, beanies, mittens, snoods and more are still available at our official Innu London website with discount code “BACANAL” ...it is completely acceptable to still buy winter clothes (I’m wearing my beanie right now).

Also do not forget our Etsy shop collection with a 50% off discount using “JANBLUES”

Golden Globes 2014

We are incredibly delighted to hear that Breaking Bad has won a well deserved Golden Globe Award as did most the cast of American Hustle! Very well done guys.

Now then, the A listers have certainly outdone themselves at this years Golden Globes Award. The dresses are truly mesmerizing so we’ve done you a little list of our faves:

Jessica Chastain has nailed the Innu London look with her careful back detailing. This stunning necklace makes the entire outfit in our eyes.

Emma Watson blew us away in the beautiful unique design by Dior...need we say more?

Lupita Nyong’o got it spot on with this gorgeous red number by the one and only Ralph Lauren. He is one of our major inspirations in the fashion world, if you check out our new and updated Pinterest boards, you will see why...

The newly engaged Emma Roberts wore her custom made Lanvin gown exceptionally well...without even a slight sign of a food baby from her pre-Golden Globe snack...

We have recently added some of our collection to Etsy.com and to beat the January Blues we are offering a 50% discount code. Just enter ‘JANBLUES’ to redeem your offer. Additionally, don’t forget to visit our website and use discount code ‘BACANAL’ for your exclusive discount on our whole product range.

Our highlights from LCM

As I’m sure your aware the London Collectibles: Men event took place this week and Innu London headed down to the hospital club to have a look at the emerging male designers for some inspiration for our future mens collection.

We were particularly impressed by Itokawa Films and their funky and interesting take on coat designs. With the use of graffiti, colours, geometric shapes and materials...they are definitely going to be a hit.

Everyone’s favourite British heritage brand did it again. Introducing a new fun winter accessory which went by the ‘Burberry Blanket’ as stated by the one and only Mark Francis. The signature Burberry checks with red, camel and blue were given an almost tribal makeover. However, the simple yet sophistication of the brand were still seen throughout their spectacular show. Well done!

Speaking of Fashion shows, the hard work is well and truly underway for our show during  London Fashion Week in February. Expect to see lots of dresses and jumpsuits and brand new designs and ideas from Innu London...but you know we’ll be keeping you updated.

Innu London's New Year's Resolutions

We have made a list of 9 New Year’s Resolutions that you won’t to break because they are just too much fun!

  1. Learn a language... well at least try! Create short term goals and put aside half an hour or an hour a day to learn your desired language. With on-the-go apps for nearly any language you want, there is no excuse. Kill two birds with one stone and learn as your sit on the bike in the gym.  You never know , this time next year you could be escaping to the French Riviera...

2. Visit a part of the world you never thought you’d go. Hike up a mountain, visit the Great Wall of China, take a selfie from inside a Volcano crater. Discover your adventurous side and go and explore...the world is your oyster after all.

3. Take up a new activity. Try dancing, tennis or yoga instead of joining the gym. Nobody enjoys going to the gym so if you would like to get healthy this year do it by having fun. Get your friends to join you and make it a weekly gathering.

4. Treat Yourself! Once a month why not take a trip to a spa, or get your nails and hair done or buy that pair of expensive shoes you’ve had your eye on. Everyone deserves a little something special every now and again so go on...just do it.

5. Try a new food every week. Why not try a dragonfruit, or rutabaga or something the Japanese eat such as Octopus Ice Cream.. (hmm we are not so sure about that one ourselves).

6. Dress up a little more than you normally would once a week, whether to work or just to run some errands...channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw. Wear your highest heels or sexiest underwear or your favourite little black dress to make you feel good and boost your confidence and happiness.

7. Start a diary or a blog to document your year. In a few years time you can look back though it with your friends and reminisce about the good, the fun, the bad and sad.

8. Be daring with your hair. Chop it off, get some coloured dip dyed tips, go darker, go lighter, get a fringe... the possibilities are endless. Urban Roots Salon in Southgate can do any of these for you with utmost quality while you have a fun, enjoyable experience.

9. Finally, don’t take life too seriously. Make more time for yourself and your friends and if you have a bad day, just make sure you have an extra good one the day after. Don’t let things get you down and enjoy every day as it comes.

These realistic and fun resolutions are the key to making 2014 the best year ever!
